Full-Service Mobile Boom Lift Repair — Hydraulics, Drive, Controls & Power Systems

SECTION 01

Hydraulic & Boom Extension Failures

  • Lift Cylinder Leaks & Drift

Articulating and telescopic boom lift cylinders operate under extreme pressure and frequently develop seal leaks, causing boom drift, slow extension, or hydraulic fluid loss that can create dangerous overhead conditions.

  • Extension Cable & Chain Wear

Telescopic boom sections use internal cables or chains to synchronized extension and retraction. Over time these stretch, fray, or snap, requiring precise tension adjustment or full replacement to prevent catastrophic failure.

  • Proportional Valve Malfunctions

Electro-hydraulic proportional control valves govern boom movement speed and smoothness. Failed solenoids or contaminated valve spools cause jerky, unresponsive, or runaway boom functions.

SECTION 02

Drive & Axle System Repairs

  • Hydrostatic Drive Motor Failure

Boom lifts use hydraulic drive motors at each axle. Worn motors, failed case drain seals, or contaminated fluid lead to loss of drive power, pulling to one side, or complete immobility.

  • Axle & Differential Service

Rough-terrain boom lifts put immense stress on axles, differentials, and planetary final drives. Leaking seals, worn bearings, and contaminated gear oil are common issues that require prompt service.

  • Brake System Repairs

Spring-applied, hydraulically released brake systems can fail to release due to stuck calipers, worn friction discs, or failing brake valves — leaving the machine immobilized on the job site.

SECTION 03

Control & Safety System Troubleshooting

  • Load Sensing & Capacity Limiter Calibration

The onboard load weighing system prevents tipping by limiting boom functions based on platform load. Faulty load cells, bad calibration, or corrupted software can lock out boom functions even when safely within capacity.

  • Platform Leveling System Failures

Both articulating and telescopic booms use automatic leveling cylinders and sensors to keep the platform level. Failed leveling valves, broken linkages, or faulty sensors cause the platform to tilt dangerously.

  • Joystick & Controller Faults

Proportional joysticks and CAN-bus controllers develop dead spots, intermittent faults, or complete failures due to moisture ingress, worn potentiometers, or damaged wiring harnesses.

SECTION 04

Engine & Power Pack Maintenance

  • Diesel Engine Service

Rough-terrain boom lifts are typically diesel-powered. We handle fuel system repairs, turbocharger replacement, DPF cleaning, emissions system troubleshooting, and full engine overhauls for all major engine brands.

  • Hydraulic Pump & Power Pack Repairs

The main hydraulic pump is the heart of the boom lift. Cavitation, contamination, or bearing failure can destroy the pump and spread debris throughout the system — requiring flushes, pump replacement, and filter service.

  • Battery & Electric Drive Systems

Electric and hybrid boom lifts use traction battery packs, motor controllers, and onboard chargers. We diagnose and repair BMS faults, charger failures, and traction motor issues to keep electric fleets productive.
